Man Accused Of Kidnapping, Torturing Wife
HAWTHORNE A Southern California man is accused of torturing his estranged wife to get her to sign divorce papers and give him her assets.
Hawthorne police said Friday that Mohammad Hanafi faces several felony counts, including kidnap and torture.
Police Lt. Michael Ishii says the wife was kidnapped and tortured for five days. Hanafi is accused of binding and gagging his wife then shocking her with a Taser at a home in Hawthorne. Ishii says she was moved to a home in Los Angeles and escaped early last week to a neighbor’s home, where she called police.
Hanafi surrendered this week. Police are searching for Kisasi Liggins of Los Angeles, who is accused of helping Hanafi restrain his wife.
